Hospitality

Introduction
Step into the fast paced world of hospitality with ECTS and be assured of a wide choice of qualifications, fully qualified professional trainers, excellent facilities and training designed to give you current industry standard skills and experience. All students enjoy close personal attention and interaction with our trainers with small class sizes a feature of post secondary courses.

Our training centre is located at the gateway to the Yarra Valley, one of Australia’s premier food and wine regions providing excellent access to producers for class visits and excursions and potential student employment opportunities with abundant local wineries and restaurants.

Awards
Our supportive environment and commitment to excellence encourage great results. Four of our students have topped Victoria’s Hospitality results, receiving prestigious Premier’s Awards.

Achievements
Our students achieved excellence in the Secondary School Challenge at the Royal Melbourne Show, receiving a gold medal for their performance. The teams were given one hour to produce a dish judged on teamwork, taste, temperature and appearance. This was a gruelling event, closely assessed by five judges, and took place in front of a large live audience.

Destinations
Hospitality Training offers a wide range of fully and part time employment opportunities anywhere in the world. Many of our students obtain part time positions at local restaurants; some pursue hospitality as a career while others have pursued further study. Employers of our students include Mercer’s Restaurant, Wellers of Kangaroo Ground, Yering Station, Marriot Hotel and Cafe la at Sofitel Melbourne. We plan to continue these extremely successful associations.

Facilities
Our hospitality training facilities include a stunning large commercial kitchen designed with industry standard equipment. The kitchen supplies a fully operational training restaurant, Swipers Gully Vineyard & Restaurant, open to the public Monday to Friday evenings during term time and with seating for 120.

The hospitality training centre is set in an operational vineyard with the opportunity to see seasonal cycles from bud burst to bottling. During the kitchen units students also tend an established kitchen and herb garden.

Industry Network
Our students have been fortunate enough to participate in our Guest Chef series. They have been privileged to work with Stephen Mercer (Mercers Restaurant, Eltham), Colin Swalwell (Yering Station, Coldstream) and Henrik Iverson (Hyatt, Canberra). Our students and staff benefit significantly from this close association with such skilled chefs.

Trainers
All our Hospitality Trainers are fully qualified and experienced industry professionals. As part of their professional development, each trainer returns to industry placement to update their skills and knowledge.
